Roses on Stamps of EU Countries – Enlargement of EU – Stamps of Gibraltar 2003
On 01 May 2004 enlargement of European Union took place.It was the single largest expansion of European union in terms of territory , number of states and population to date. Cyprus,Czech Republic,Estonia, Hungary,Latvia,Lithuania,Malta,Poland,Slovakia & Slovenia became members on 01 May 2004.
Gibraltar issued a set of four beautiful stamps with flowers of the new members as the theme of this issue ON 15 Sep 2003. The flowers are
30p – Daisy of Latvia & Rue of Lithuania.
40p – Rose of Cyprus & Maltese Centaury of Malta.
42p – Tulip of Hungary & Dogrose of Slovakia .
54p- Corn Poppy of Poland & Scented Thyme of Czech Republic.
