A Special Cover on Captain Vijay Hazare was issued during GUJPEX 2011 at Vadodara on 23 Dec 2011. Vijay Samuel Hazare (11 Mar 1915-18 Dec 2004) captained India in 14 test matches between 1951 & 1953. He has the following records to his Credit
He led India to its first test win vs England at Chennai (then Madras) in 1951-52.
He is First Indian to hit first Triple Century in First Class Cricket.
First Indian to score a century in each innings of a test match vs Australia at Adelaide in 1947-48 (116 & 145).
First Indian to score two triple centuries.
First Indian to score a century in three successive test matches.
He bagged 20 test wickets including three times Bradman’s wickets.
The Inter-Zonal tournament in India is named as Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He and Jasu Patel were the first Indian Cricketers to be honoured with Padma Shri.
The CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) was established as Crown Representative’s Force on 27 Jul 1939 and it became CRPF after enactment of CRPF act on 28 Dec 1949. It is today the largest of India’s Central Armed Police Forces. Besides Internal Security, Law & Order, Counter Insurgency Role, Duty during elections CRPF contingents have now been deployed in UN Missions also.
CRPF Mahila Battalion – The First Mahila (Women’s) CRPF battalion was raised in 1986 at Delhi as 88(Mahila) Battalion CRPF. Besides other roles and deployment the 88 Mahila Battalion was also deployed in Sri Lanka as Part of IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping Force) between 1987-1990. Two other Mahila battalions have been raised subsequently namely 13 (M) Battalion and 213 (M) Battalion. Besides this one team in a RAF (Rapid Action Force) company is composed of Women Personnel. 88 Mahila Battalion has the distinction of being the World’s First Armed Women Paramilitary Battalion.
