Meenakshi temple also referred to as Meenakshi Amman or Meenakshi-Sundareshwara Temple is a historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of Vaigai river in the temple city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort Sundareshwar, a form of Shiva. The temple finds a mention in Sangam Literature of 6th Century AD. Lord Vishnu also finds mention in many narratives and hence temple and Madurai is sometimes as “Southern Mathura” for followers of Shaivism tradition.
The Ranganthaswamy Temple or Thiruvarangam is a Hindu temple dedicated Ranganathan, a reclining form of Hindu deity Maha Vishnu, located in Srirangam, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. It is constructed on Dravidian architecture and is located on an island between Kaveri and Kollidam rivers. It finds mentions in Sangam literature in 4th Century AD.
Tripex 76 Philatelic exhibition was held on 19 June 1976 and a Special Cover brought out features the Srirangam Temple of Trichy on Cover Design in Golden Foil. The Cancellation features the Main Guard Gate of Temple.
