66th Anniversary of Conquest of Mount Everest – Concern on Deaths due to overcrowding and Garbage Dumping.

NEPAL PC SJ MT EVEREST 78
NEPAL POSTCARD – SILVER JUBILEE CONQUEST OF MOUNT EVEREST 29 MAY 1953-29 MAY 1978- 29 MAY 2019

The World’s highest mountain peak Mount Everest was first successfully climbed on 29 May 1953 by two legendary climbers Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal.

Today we celebrate the 66th Anniversary of the historic conquest. A large number of Climbers have scaled the Mount Everest since then and established various records. However, 2019 has seen 11 deaths taking place on Mount Everest due to overcrowding and traffic jams. We offer our condolences and prayers for those who have lost their lives and wish such deaths do not ever take place again.

The overcrowding has also resulted in large scale dumping of garbage on the Everest route. One of the most beautiful places on earth is also facing the fury of human exploitation and garbage dumping. We are disrespecting nature -which is a grave cause for concern.
