APS Cover Jan 2019 – Platinum Jubilee – No 10 Squadron Indian Air Force
No 9 Squadron of IAF was formed on 20 Feb 1944 at Lahore. The Squadron crest is “Winged Dagger and this squadron is known as “DAGGERS”.It took part in World War II in Burma sector and since then it has taken part in all major conflicts and battles. It has graduated from Vampires and Maruts to MIGs It received Presidents’ Standards in 1985. It was awarded two Vir Chakras in 1971 operations.
Squadron Leader H Moolgavkar was the Commanding Officer of the sqn in 1947-48 operations against Pakistan when he was awarded Maha Vir Chakra. He rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshal H Moolgavkar, PVSM, MVC, LOM and became Chief of Air Staff Indian Air Force from 1976 to 1978

Army Hospital had a humble beginning as a 50 bedded ‘Indian Military Hospital’ in 1918. Army Hospital (Referral & Research) in New Delhi is today a tertiary medical care provider and apex research centre of Armed Forces Medical Services. It performs twenty thousand surgeries annually with thirty thousand admissions and an outpatient load of five lakhs

APS Cover Jan 2019 – Army Dental Corps – 3rd Reunion
The Dental Services in Indian Army came into existence on 01 Feb 1941 with the commissioning of 07 Officers in the Indian Medical Service Dental IMS (D). The Indian Navy and Indian Air Force got their Dental Services in Apr 1943 and Apr 1945 respectively. On 26 Jan 1950, the name of the Corps was changed to Army Dental Corps. It became Additional Directorate General of Dental Services in 1995 and Directorate General Of Dental Services in 2001.

APS Cover Jan 2019 – Sestercentennial – 1st Battalion The Maratha Light Infantry
1st Battalion The Maratha Light Infantry was raised on 04 Aug 1768 at Bombay as the 2nd Bombay Sepoys. It won eight Battle Honours in pre WW I and added another five during WW I in Mesopotamia. It won seven more battle honours in WW II while serving in North Africa, Syria, Libya, Egypt and Italy.
During Operations in Italy, Sepoy Namdeo Jadhav was awarded “Victoria Cross” on 09 Apr 1945 during assault across River Senio.

APS Cover Jan 2019 – Bicentenary – 16th Battalion The Madras Regiment
16th Battalion The Madras Regiment (Travancore) was raised as Second Travancore Nayar Infantry on 28 Jan 1819. It saw action in WW II in Persia and Iraq in 1944.The Battalion was integrated with Indian Army in Apr 1951 and in May 1954 re-designated as 16th Battalion The Madras Regiment. It won its first Gallantry medal in Cachar operations in 1958

APS Cover Jan 2019 – Platinum Jubilee – 9th Battalion The Rajput Regiment
9th Battalion The Rajput Regiment was raised as the First TA 2nd Queens Light Infantry in 1921. Between 1939 and 1941 it carried out railway protection duties at Allahabad in addition to guarding German and Italian PsOW. In 1941 it was re-designated as 9th Bn The VIIth Rajput Regiment. It was deployed in Burma (Myanmar) along the Arakan Coast during WW II. It was de-mob in 1946 and re-raised in 1967.

APS Cover Jan 2019 – Silver Jubilee -Corps of Army Air Defence
The Corps of Army Air Defence is an active combat arm of the Indian Army. It has been part of Regiment of Artillery and bifurcated from Artillery in 1994 to gain a separate identity. It was renamed from Air Defence Artillery to Army Air Defence in 2006.
It has graduated from 3-inch anti-aircraft guns to L 70 guns to most modern equipment now.
