TANAPEX-75 Philatelic exhibition was held on 07 Sep 1975 and a Special Cover brought out features the Meenakshi Temple of Madurai on Cover. The Cancellation features a horse driven chariot.
Meenakshi temple also referred to as Meenakshi Amman or Meenakshi-Sundareshwara Temple is a historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of Vaigai river in the temple city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort Sundareshwar, a form of Shiva. The temple finds a mention in Sangam Literature of 6th Century AD. Lord Vishnu also finds mention in many narratives and hence temple and Madurai is sometimes as “Southern Mathura” for followers of Shaivism tradition.
First Day Cover India 2018 – Safdarjung Hospital -60th Anniversary
The American troops taking part in World War II landed at Willingdon Airfield (later Safdarjung airport) the only airport/airfield in Delhi at that time. There was no hospital or medical centre nearby and few barracks were converted and equipped with the latest equipment to make it a modern medical centre for American Troops.
After the War Americans handed it over to the Indian Government. It is today a 2,900-bed multi speciality hospital, one of the largest Government hospitals in the country.
India Post issued a pair of Se-tenant stamps 0n 27 Apr 2018 to mark 60th Anniversary of Safdarjung Hospital. A FDC is listed.
First Day Cover- First Flag hoisting at Port Blair- India 2018
Port Blair was the First Indian territory liberated from Imperial British Rule. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the Tricolour at Gymkhana Ground in Port Blair on 30 Dec 1943.
