Postcards of Croatia 2026 – 300th Anniversary of Arrival of Arbanasi in Zadar

Zadar is celebrating the 300th anniversary of the arrival of the Arbanasi community in 2026, marking three centuries of unique cultural, linguistic, and religious heritage (1726–2026). Throughout the year, special events, including solemn academies, musical performances, and processions on the Day of Our Lady of Loreto, honor the community’s roots and resilience. A series of events are scheduled throughout the year to celebrate the history of the Arbanasi, who are descendants of Albanians who migrated from the Lake Shkodër area. The community, which has long been a significant part of Zadar’s cultural identity, is being honored for its deep-rooted traditions and dedication to preserving their heritage.
