Stamps on “The Samaja” Oriya Newspaper -India 2019.
“The Samaja” is an Oriya Language newspaper founded in 1919 by a Nationalist and a Freedom Fighter Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das. It has now a readership of almost 16 Lakhs (1.6 Million) and daily Circulation of 350,000. It is published from eight cities across three states in India (Odisha, Andhra Pradesh & West Bengal).
Some of the prominent personalities who have contributed to its growth and have been associated with it are Lal Bahadur Shastri, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sri Krishna Kant, Balwant Rai Mehta, Purshottam Das Tandon. The “Samaja” is owned and managed by “Servants of People Society” founded by Lala Lajpat Rai.
India Post issued a commemorative stamp of Rs 5 to celebrate Centenary year of “The Samaja”. The stamp has Braille writing. It was issued on 06 Oct 2019.
Stamps on Claus Stauffenberg and Helmut Moltke – Germany – 2007.
Germany has issued a 55c stamp on 100th Birth Anniversary of Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and Helmuth James Graf von Moltke.
Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg (1907-1944) – He was a German Army officer who took part in the attack on Poland, invasion of Soviet Union and Tunisia during World War II. He was executed on 21 Jul 1944 after the failed plot of 20 Jul 1944 to overthrow Hitler.
Helmuth James Graf von Moltke (1907-1945) – German jurist and a founding member of Kreisau Circle opposition Group. He opposed human rights violations in German-occupied territories during WorldWar II and Hitler. He was arrested in 1944 and executed on 23 Jan 1945 in Berlin.
Miniature Sheet on Jallianwala Bagh Massacre -India -2019
India issued a miniature sheet with two stamps on the theme 100 Years of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on 13 April 2019. 13 April is celebrated as Baisakhi -the harvest festival and establishment of Khalsa Pant by Guru Gobind Singh. On 13 Apr 1919 thousands of people had peacefully gathered to celebrate these festivals in Jallianwala Bagh -an open park-in Amritsar when Dyer moved with non-British Soldiers and without warning opened fire on unarmed, innocent Men. Women and Children from all sections and religions of Society. He had blocked the only exit. Dyer was responsible for the massacre of thousands of Indians. This massacre was avenged by Sardar Udham Singh when he killed Dyer in London on 13 Mar 1940. A memorial and a Museum are now a testimony to this massacre.

India issued a miniature sheet with two stamps on the theme Ahimsa Parmo Dharma -Non-Violence The Highest Duty. It was issued on 17 Jun 2019.
India celebrates 150th Birth Anniversary of its Father of Nation in Mahatma Gandhi in 2019. The Philosophy of Ahimsa or NON -Violence was advocated and practised by Gandhiji during the freedom struggle. The stamps were issued on 17 Jun 2019 to coincide with the establishment of Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat on 17 Jun 1917 and Gandhiji’s Birth Anniversary.
