Ludwig von Beethoven (17 Sep 1770- 26 Mar 1827) was a German composer and Pianist. He was born in Bonn and died in Vienna. He remains one of the most recognised and influential composers. His best-known compositions include 9 Symphonies,5 Piano Concertos, 1 Violin Concerto, 32 Piano Sonatas, 16 string quartets, a Mass the Missa Solemnis and an Opera Fidelio.

He worked with Neefe as assistant Court organist in Bonn between 1783 to 1785 In 1786 he moved to Vienna. In 2020 we are also celebrating his 200th Birth Anniversary

The Maldives issued a set of four stamps on 26 Mar 1977 to mark his 150th Death Anniversary.

Cite Universitaire Paris – It is a Private Park and Foundation established in 1925 providing general and public services, including the maintenance of several residences housing 6,000 students and visiting academics.

Banks of the Seine in Paris – On the banks of Seine in Paris are located some of the most famous monuments from Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame via the Place de la Concorde, but also the historic bridges that connect them. Both Banks are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1991.

The Catacombs of Paris are underground ossuaries in Paris France which hold the remains of more than six million people. It was created in 1810 to eliminate the city’s overflowing cemeteries. Since 2013 the Catacombs number among 14 City of Paris Museums.

The Fontaine de l’Observatoire is a monumental fountain located in Jadin Marco Polo in Paris with Sculpture by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875). It was dedicated in 1874 and is also known for the Four Parts of the World Sculpture embodied by Female figures. The Four parts represent Europe, Asia, Africa & America.

Cuba Issued Se-Tenant stamps on the 40th Anniversary of National Ballet and 150th Anniversary of Grand Theatre Havana on 28 Oct 1988.

The Cuban National Ballet is a classical Ballet Company based at Grand Theatre in Havana.It was founded by Cuban Ballerina Alicia Alonso along with her husband Fernando Alonso on 28 Oct 1948. The official school of the Company is Cuban National Ballet School. She passed away at the age of 98 on 17 Oct 2019.

The Grand Theatre Havana – It was built in 1914-15 by Engineers Purdy and Henderson and was designed by Belgian architect Paul Belau. It was built at the site of former Teatro Tacon -originally built-in 1838. It is home to Cuban National Ballet Company.

Cuba issued stamps on the 170th Anniversary of San Alejandro Arts School, Havana on 12 Jan 1988. It was founded in 1818 by French Painter Jean Baptiste Vermay and is one of the oldest and most prestigious Fine Arts School in Cuba.

10c- Elena Herrera by Armando Menocal (1863-1942). He studied in San Alejandro before moving to Spain in 1880 and then returned to his alma mater and in 1927 became Director at Alejandro. Elena was a Cuban Orchestra Director.

Abba Exhibition Opens in London -Abba on Stamps – Music in Sweden 1983

Abba won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest and became a huge commercial success and Popular after that with a string of Blockbusters like “Dancing Queen”, Mamma Mia” & “Thank You for the Music”.

A new exhibition in London at the O2 Venue until August displays personal items of ABBA such as Bjorn Ulvaeus’s school report, pictures, gold discs and clothing. The Exhibition is called ABBA Super Troupers. O2 arena recently hosted C2C: Country to Country – a Country Music Festival.

01 Oct 1983 was declared World Music Day by UNESCO International Music Council. Sweden issued a miniature sheet on the theme Music in Sweden on 01 Oct 1983. All stamps are engraved by Czeslaw Slania (1921-2005). The Musicians featured on stamps are
