A Special Cover on Jasu Patel was issued during Stamp Mania 2009 at Vadodara on 20 Dec 2009. Jasu Patel (26 Nov 1924-12 Dec 1992) was an off-spinner who played only seven test matches for India. He is remembered for his bowling in 2nd Test at Kanpur vs Australia in 1959-60 Series. His effort with the ball (9-69 & 5-55) resulted in an India winning the test by 119 runs. His Match figures of 14-124 remained an Indian record for thirty years before N Hirwani broke it and innings bowling figure of 9-69 remained a record for forty years before Anil Kumble broke it with 10-74. He was the first Indian Cricketer to be awarded Padma Shri along with Vijay Hazare.
