The Wedding of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk & Jetsun Pema took place in Punakha Dzong in Punakha on 13 Oct 2011. A 100 Nu Miniature Sheet on Royal Couple was issued.

King Birendra Bikram Shah Dev (29 Dec 1944- 01 Jun 2001) was the son of King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and grandson ofKing Tribhuvan. King Birendra was proclaimed King on 31 Jan 1972 on death of his father but was coronated on an auspicious day i.e, 24 Feb 1975.

A Miniature sheet of three stamps was issued on 24 Feb 1975 to Commemorate his Coronation. The details of stamps are

One Nepalese Rupee – Throne and sceptre

Rs 1.25 – Royal Palace

Rs 2.5 – Their Majesty King and Queen.

Sweden issued a set of six stamps on old towns on 28 Aug 1984. The towns featured on the stamps are

Jonkoping   – King Magnus Ladulas awarded the rights to the town in 1284.

Karlstad -It got its town privileges in 1584 and named after Prince Karl IX

Gavle – It is known since 1413 for exporting Iron & Copper.

Sigtuna- The settlement dates back to 1000 AD

Norrkoping- This town had its origin in 1384 AD

Vadstena -It was opened in 1384

To highlight industrial development in Bahrain an Industrial exhibition was held in 2000 on theme “Made in Bahrain”. A set of three commemorative stamps were issued by Bahrain on 09 May 2000. All three stamps feature a potrait of the Amir H.H SH Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

The Qasr al Hosn also known as White Fort or Old Fort was built in 1761 as a conical watchtower to defend the only freshwater well in Abu Dhabi Island. The tower was expanded as a small fort in 1793 by the then ruler and became the residence of Sheikh.It remained Emir’s Palace (hence the name Qasr al Hosn meaning Palace Fort) and seat of Government till 1966.

It is the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi  capital of UAE and now houses the Abu Dhabi cultural foundation where research on UAE history,archaeology,architecture is done. It has a museum displaying artifacts,pictures and weapons related to regions history.It was designated as World Heritage site in 1976. Qasr al Hosn festival is held here annually.

UAE issued a set of four stamps to commemorate the more than 250 years of this historic Fort. The stamps were issued on 25 Nov 2013.
