Brazil issued a set of two stamps on Composers and Writers on 19 Oct 1993.

Marcus Vinicius da Cruz e Mello Moraes ( 19 Oct 1913- 09 Jul 1980). He was nicknamed O Poetinha and was a Brazilian Poet, Lyricist, essayist & Playwright. He also composed bossa nova music. A stamp was issued to mark his 80th Birth Anniversary. The stamp also showed a Girl from Ipanema in the background.

Alfredo da Rosa Viana Jr. ( 23 Apr 1897 – 17 Feb 1973) better known as Pixinguinha was a composer, arranger, flautist and Saxophonist born in Rio . He is considered as one of the greatest Brazilian Composers of popular music known as Choro. His well-known Choro works are “Carinhoso”, “Gloria”, “Lamento” and “Um a Zero”. The stamp features Pixinguinha playing the Saxophone. The stamp was issued on his 20th Death Anniversary.
