Postcards of GDR- 750th Anniversary of Berlin – Marx-Engels Forum & Jungfern Bridge
Berlin was founded in 1237 and became capital of Margraviate of Brandenburg in 1417, later of Brandenburg-Prussia and Kingdom of Prussia. After the Second War, the city was divided into two East Berlin became Capital of Soviet-backed East Germany and West Berlin controlled by Allies backed West Germany. This continued till unification of Germany in 1990 when the Berlin Wall was pulled down in 1989 and in June 1991 resolution was passed in Bundestag -German Parliament to move the Unified German Capital to Berlin. In 1999 offices moved to Berlin from Bonn.

Mark-Engels forum is a Public Park in Central Mitte district of Berlin. It was built by GDR in 1986and named after Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, authors of Communist Manifesto. Their statues are located here.
Jungfern Bridge – It is the oldest Bridge in Berlin located in Mitte. It is an Iron Bascule Bridge.
Stamps of China on the 2008 Beijing Olympics –Closing Ceremony – China 2008
The 2008 Summer Olympics or XXIX Olympics were held in Beijing China from 08 to 24 Aug 2008. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 Nations participated in 28 Sports, 41 Disciplines and 302 events. President Hu Jintao of China inaugurated the Games. China topped the medals tally with 48 Gold Medals.
China Post issued a set of four stamps on 24 Aug 2008 (24/8/8)for the Closing Ceremony of 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. The theme of stamps was the handover of the Olympic Flame from Beijing to London.

The 2012 Summer Olympics or XXX Olympics were held in London from 27 July to 12 Aug 2012. Sri Lanka issued a set of four stamps and a miniature sheet 23 Jul 2012 to commemorate the Olympics. A total of 10,768 athletes from 204 Nations participated in 26 Sports, 39 Disciplines and 302 events. The USA topped the medals tally with 46 Gold Medals.
A FDC is listed with Four Stamps. The FDC is cancelled at Westminster House Colombo -the official Residence of British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.

Spain issued a stamp on EXPO 2008 on 05 Jul 2007.EXPO 2008 was an InternationalExposition held in Zaragoza Spain from 14 Jun to 14 Sep 2008. 104 countries participated and approx 5,650,000 people visited the Exhibition. It was placed in a meander of the river Ebro. The theme was “Water and Sustainable Development”. The highlight was the Water Tower, River aquarium and building in the shape of a water drop.
The 0.58 euro stamp features a logo and ‘Fluvi’ Mascot. Fluvi is a little male drop of water. Qatar issued a miniature sheet on EXPO 2008.
Special Stamps on Gotthard Base Tunnel– Switzerland 2016
Switzerland issued a special pair of se-tenant stamps with a vignette to commemorate the opening of Gotthard Base Tunnel on 01 Jun 2016. The tunnel is the longest railway tunnel in the World with a length of 57 kilometres. It connects North (Erstfeld) of Switzerland to Bodio in the South.
Special Stamps– 28 million tonnes of material was removed from the mountains out of which 15 kilos of Gotthard rock went to Swiss Post. The Gotthard rock was ground into dust and then applied in this form to the 104 mm X 37 mm “Gottardo” special stamp using a particular kind of printing with special varnish.
The two stamps of 100 c each featuring the bridge show the relief of the Saint Gotthard Massif along with Alpine panorama and north and south portals. At each end of the tunnel stands an SBB locomotive, one in the colder north, depicted in blue, and the other in warmer south, depicted in yellow. The locomotive in North (Erstfeld) is an SBB Electric Locomotive Re 484 Cargo and locomotive in South (Bodio) is an SBB Re 460 Loco 2000.
