Gordon Banks -All-Time Great Goalkeeper dies -RIP

England’s 1966 World Cup Winning Goalkeeper Gordan Banks passed away at the age of 91. He was regarded for being one of the best Goalkeepers that the Game has seen. He is perhaps most remembered for his “Save of Century” at the 1970 World Cup match against Brazil. He saved a Pele header. We pay our homage to this great Footballer and Goalkeeper.

The 2002 FIFA World Cup was jointly hosted by Japan and South Korea. It was 17th FIFA World Cup . The Final was played at The International Stadium in Yokohama ,Japan.It was first World Cup to be held in Asia and First one outside of Europe and Americas. China ,Ecuador, Senegal and Slovenia made their debuts

Brazil beat Germany 2-0 to lift their fifth title ,the first country to do so. Turkey beat South Korea 3-2 to secure third place in only their second appearance in World Cup Finals.

France issued a set of se-tenant stamps including a round shaped stamp on 28 April 2002 to commemorate the 2002 FIFA World Cup. One stamp features flags of World champions and second stamp features 1998 FIFA World Champion France.

The 1998 FIFA World Cup Football was 16th FIFA World Cup . It was held in France from 10 Jun 1998 to 12 Jul 1998. France hosted it for the second time after 1938. Thirty Two (32) teams participated and France defeated Brazil 3-0 in the final at Stade de France in Saint Denis to lift the trophy. Croatia defeated The Netherlands to clinch the third place.

Croatia , Japan ,Jamaica and South Africa made their first appearances in World Cup finals.

France issued a round shaped stamp on 28 Feb 1998 to commemorate this event.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup is a biennial football World Championships organised by FIFA for U-20 male players. It was first held in 1977 in Tunisia. Until 2005 it was known as FIFA World Youth Championships.

The 22nd edition of FIFA U-20 World Cup will be held in Poland from 23 May to 15 Jun 2019. The 2017 edition held in South Korea and England won the Cup beating Venezuela in the Finals.

The 2003 edition was held in UAE and was known as FIFA World Youth Championships. EMIRATES 2003 was won by Brazil defeating Spain 1-0 in the Finals. It was the 14th edition of the Cup.

United Arab Emirates released a Postage stamp on 09 Sep 2003 to commemorate this event.
