Germany issued two stamps on 12 Jul 2007 on UNESCO World Heritage sites

65 euro cent – Schwarz-Haupterhaus Riga – House of Blackheads in Riga Latvia.

70 euro cent – Rathaus Stralsund -Town Hall of Hanseatic city of Stralsund built in Gothic style in 1300.

Germany has issued stamp on 1000th Anniversary Bishopric of  Bamberg on 02 Jan 2007. This Cathedral is an UNESCO Heritage site. It was established in 1007 at Frankfurt Synod to expand Christianity to the Franconian Lands (Bavaria). The land in Furth for Bamberg Bishopric was donated by Emperor Heinrich II on 01 Nov 1007.

First Day Covers cancelled at Berlin is listed.

The National Trust for Scotland is a Scottish Conservation Organisation. It manages  130 properties and 180,000 acres of Land which includes Castles, Parks, Heritage Sites etc. Great Britain issued a set of Five stamps on 24 June 1981 to commemorate 50th Anniversary of National Trust For Scotland.

Upper Middle Rhine Valley-  The 65 Km stretch of Middle Rhine valley with its castles, historic towns, landscapes and vineyards is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Transport route between North and South of the Continent.
  • Steep valley sides serve as vineyards.
  • The landscape has 40 hilltop castles some of which are almost 1000 years old.
  • It is one of the great rivers of the World

Germany issued a stamp on Upper Middle Rhine Valley on 04 May 2006. It is also known as Oberes Mittelrheintal. Two different FDC are listed.

The Temples of Khajuraho were built during the 9th to 12th century. Most of the temples are decorated with sculptures of Gods, Goddesses, apsaras etc. They are Hindu and Jain temples.

Date of issue- 06 Mar 1999     Print run- One million.

The stamp depicts one of the sculptures “Apsara removing a thorn from her foot” .A picture of Visvanatha temple dated 999 AD is shown on First Day Cover. FDC is listed with the cancellation of 1 CBPO.
