2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup – Stamps on Women’s World Cup.
The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is the eighth edition of the Women’s World Cup. It is being hosted by France and is being played from 07 June 2019 to 07 July 2019 across 7 cities of France.
24 Teams have qualified for the Finals and they have been placed in Six Groups. Top two teams from each Group and four best third-placed teams will qualify for the knock out stage and then proceed to Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and the Final.
Till  11 June 2019, the following teams have qualified for the knock -out stage
Group A – France & Norway         Group B – Germany & Spain    Group C -Brazil and Italy
Group D-  England & Argentina    Group E – Canada & Netherlands Group F – USA & Sweden.
The United States is the Current World Champion having defeated Japan in 2015 World Cup held in Canada. Japan had defeated the USA in the 2011 World Cup held in Germany.

Stamps on 2007 Cricket World Cup – Cricket Philately.

The 2019 Cricket World Cup starts tomorrow with hosts England Taking on South Africa in the first match. The 2007 Cricket World Cup was held in the West Indies from 13 Mar to 28 April 2007. Apart from 10 teams with ODI status, six other associate members of ICC qualified for this World Cup. They were Kenya, The Netherlands, Scotland, Canada, Ireland and Bermuda. Ricky Ponting led Australia won the World Cup for the third time in a row by beating Sri Lanka in the final. Glenn McGrath was named the Man of the tournament for taking 26 wickets.

Sri Lanka Post issued a set of two stamps on 23 February 2007 to commemorate this event. A first day cover with stamps of unique shape was issued at Colombo.

Jamaica issued a set of four stamps on 28 February 2007 to commemorate 9th World Cup. The stamps featured the former West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh, batsman Collie Smith and the Sabina Park, Kingston pitch. All stamps and the first-day cover carry the World cup Logo.

Nepal issued a limited edition (500 covers each only) unique commemorative covers to mark the inaugural day and last day of the 2007 Cricket World Cup. The inaugural day cover features the flags of all countries and their location on the globe along with the logo of the World Cup. It was released at Kathmandu on 11 March 2007.

The concluding day cover for the finals at Kensington Oval, Barbados was released at Kathmandu, Nepal on 28 April 2007. An orange, anthropomorphic racoon like creature named “Mello” was named as the Mascot for the World Cup. It features the World Cup Trophy and “Mello” the mascot for the World Cup.

Bangladesh issued a set of four Se-tenant stamps on 19 April 2007 to commemorate the World Cup. These four unique stamps show Bangladesh players, Bengal Tiger and the World Cup Trophy.

Sri Lanka Post honoured its team which finished runners-up in the World Cup by releasing two commemorative stamps featuring the team and its star players. The first-day cover also features a slogan “Congratulations…..!!! Runners-up Team – Sri Lanka”

2019 ICC Cricket World Cup – 03 Days to go – Stamps on 2011 World Cup.

The 10th World Cup was held in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka from 19 February to 02 April 2011. India beat Sri Lanka in the finals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to win the World Cup. It was the first time that two Asian nations reached the Final and first time since 1992 that Australia did not reach the final.

Sachin Tendulkar was a member of this team and it was his first World Cup Win. Yuvraj Singh was declared Man of the tournament.

Stamps on 2006 Torino Winter Olympics – Norway.

The 2006 Winter Olympic Games were held in Torino, Italy from 10 Feb to 26 Feb 2006.  Norway issued a 22 Krone stamp on Biathlon event on 03 Feb 2006. The stamp had a print run of 2,000,000. Norwegian athletes won three Silver and three Bronze medals in Biathlon events at the 2006 Olympics.
