Gediminas (1275-1341) was Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1315 to 1341. He founded the Gediminas dynasty and expanded it from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. He made Vilnius Capital of his dynasty.

Lithuania issued a set of three se-tenant stamps on his 650th Death Anniversary on 28 Sep 1991. The stamps feature the following

42nd Field Artillery Regiment (Lanark and Renfrew Scottish) was formed on 05 Oct 1866. In 1900, the Regiment became 42nd Lanark and Renfrew Regiment.

In 1866, a major re-organization of militias in the Brockville area created the 41st Brockville Battalion of Rifles. During the First World War, it won battle honours Amiens and Pursuit to Mons and Major Thain MacDowell, earned the Victoria Cross. It is now the Primary Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Canadian Army.

The Badge  of the Regiment which forms part of stamp design and the cover has following features

  • Gules a bugle stringed Argent all within an annulus sable and inscribed “THE BROCKVILLE RIFLES”
  • Argent surmounting the Maltese Cross.

The 31 Combat Engineers Regiment (The Elgins) – Commemorative Covers – 2016.

The 31 Combat Engineers Regiment (The Elgins) trace their origins with the creation of 25th Elgin Battalion of Infantry raised on 14 Sep 1866. In the first World War, The Elgins raised the 91st Battalion whose members fought in battles such as Vimy Ridge. In 1940 they mobilised for World War II  as the 25th Armoured Delivery Regiment and later helped form the 1st Canadian Armoured Personnel Carrier Regiment (Kangaroos) which earned 14 Battle honours.

The Badge  of the Regiment which forms part of stamp design and the cover has following features

  • Cypher of reigning Monarch surrounded by Garter.
  • Bilinguals Engineers and Genie.
  • Ubique motto meaning Everywhere.

The Lorne Scots of Canada – Commemorative Covers – 2016.

The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment) trace their origins to the 20th Halton and 36th Peel Battalions of Infantry, both raised in Sep 1866. The two Battalions amalgamated on 15 Dec1936, forming today’s regiment Its members participated in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885, the Boer War, Both World Wars, Egypt, Cyprus, Cambodia, Namibia, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Philippines and Poland. The Lorne Scots wear a primrose hackle in their headgear, a symbol bestowed by the allied Lancashire Fusiliers when the British Regiment amalgamated.

The Badge  of the Regiment which forms part of stamp design and the cover has following features

  • Wreath of Maple and Thistle Leaves.
  • The Crest of Viscount Peel (Demi Lion, holding between paws a shuttle argent)
  • Below the wreath, a scroll inscribed with the designation “THE LORNE SCOTS (PEEL, DUFFERIN AND HALTON REGT)”
  • A scroll bearing “AIR SON AR DUTHCHAIS”  is the motto of the Regiment meaning For Our Heritage is enshrined in the crown.
