XIVth Commonwealth Games Auckland 1990– Stamps of New Zealand 1989
The Commonwealth Games is a multi-discipline sporting event involving athletes from Commonwealth of Nations. The event was first held in 1930 and has taken place every four years since then except 1942 & 1946 when they were cancelled due to World War II.
The last games were held in Gold Coast, Australia in 2018. The Games were known as
British Empire Games from 1930-1950,
British Empire & Commonwealth Games from 1954-1966,
British Commonwealth Games from 1970-1974
Commonwealth Games from 1978 onwards.
Auckland has hosted the Games Twice ( 1950 & 1990). A set of eight stamps were issued by New Zealand on 08 Nov 1989 to Commemorate the XIVth Commonwealth Games held in Auckland.
Olympic Stamps of Bangladesh– 1976 Montreal Olympics to 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Bangladesh gained Independence in 1971 and Bangladesh Olympic Committee (BOA) was formed in 1979. Bangladesh athletes first took part in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games. Bangladesh has never participated in the Winter Olympics.
Olympic Stamps- Bangladesh has issued 34 stamps on Summer Olympics from 1976 to 2016. Bangladesh Post Office brought out a booklet cum presentation pack containing all stamps it has issued from 1976 to 2008 Summer Olympics.

The 1976 Summer Olympics or XXI Olympics were held in Montreal Canada from 17 Jul to 01 Aug 1976. A total of 6,084 athletes from 92 Nations participated in 21 Sports, 28 Disciplines and 198 events. Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated the Games. The Soviet Union topped the medals tally with 49 Gold Medals.
Bangladesh issued a set of six stamps on 29 Nov 1976 to commemorate the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

The 117th IOC Session was held in Singapore from 6-9 July 2005. Up to 5000 officials, media people came to Singapore to witness five of the world’s most glamorous and vibrant cities – Paris, New York, Moscow, London and Madrid-contend for the privilege to host 2012 Summer Olympics. The destiny and Olympic Programmes of each of 28 Olympic Sports was also on the agenda.
London won the right to host the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The 2012 Summer Olympics or XXX Olympics were held in London from 27 July to 12 Aug 2012. A total of 10,768 athletes from 204 Nations participated in 26 Sports, 39 Disciplines and 302 events. The USA topped the medals tally with 46 Gold Medals
Singapore issued a set of four stamps to commemorate the 117th IOC Session. The Stamps featured the location of five contenders for 2012 Olympics onWorld Map and Olympic sports
Stamps of Sri Lanka on 2004 Athens Olympics – Sri Lanka 2004
The 2004 Summer Olympics or XXVIII Olympics were held in Athens Greece from 13 to 29 Aug 2004. A total of 10,625 athletes from 201 Nations participated in 28 Sports, 40 Disciplines and 301 events. The USA topped the medals tally with 36 Gold Medals.
Sri Lanka issued a set of Four stamps on 06 Aug 2004 to commemorate the Olympics.

Stamps on Australian Gold Medallists at 2004 Athens Olympics – Australia 2004
The 2004 Summer Olympics or XXVIII Olympics were held in Athens Greece from 13 to 29 Aug 2004. A total of 10,625 athletes from 201 Nations participated in 28 Sports, 40 Disciplines and 301 events. The USA topped the medals tally with 36 Gold Medals. Australia won 17 Gold Medals and a total of 50 Medals to be placed fourth on Medals Table. Australia also became the first country to win more Gold Medals (17) immediately after hosting an Olympics – Sydney 2000 Australia won 16 Gold Medals.
Australia issued stamps in honour of its Gold Medallists at Athens 2004 Olympics immediately after the event. A total of 17 Stamps were issued along with individual sheetlets and a mini-sheet with 17 Stamps. All stamps were of 50c denomination.
Please note that though these 17 stamps were issued on different dates but the Mini sheet was issued containing all the stamps.

18 Aug 2004 (2 Stamps) – Suzzane Balogh Shooting Women’s Trap & Ian Thorpe Men’s 200m Freestyle Swimming.
23 Aug 2004 (5 Stamps)- Jodie Henry -Women’s 100m Freestyle Swimming, Anna Meares – Cycling Women’s 500m time trial, James Tomkins & Drew Ginn Rowing Men’s Pair, Grant Hackett Men’s 1500m Freestyle Swimming & Women’s 4x 100m Medley Relay.
Stamps of Russia on 2008 Beijing Olympics –Russia 2008
The 2008 Summer Olympics or XXIX Olympics were held in Beijing China from 08 to 24 Aug 2008. Russia issued a Se-tenant strip of three stamps on 15 Apr 2008 to commemorate the Olympics. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 Nations participated in 28 Sports, 41 Disciplines and 302 events. President Hu Jintao of China inaugurated the Games. China topped the medals tally with 48 Gold Medals.
The FDC with three Se-tenant stamp strip is listed. The stamps and Cancellation feature Olympic Flame and various sports.
