Special Cover Long Billed Vulture Conservation -India 2017
Long Billed Vulture (Gyps indicus) is the smallest of the Vultures which is critically endangered since 1990s.This species is now locally extinct in several regions. The in-situ conservation measures for this species are being taken up in Bejjur of Kagaznagar Forest Division of Telangana State Forest Department.

Barbets are a small family of distinctive birds,they are stout little creatures with powerful bills and -for their small body size -large heads.They live in pairs and feed mostly on fruits and insects. Their preference for fruits tends to restrict their habitat close to countryside with natural or introduced fruit trees with figs an absolute favourite. Three Species are found in Namibia.
Namibia issued three No Value Indicator (NVI) stamps on Barbets on 09 Mar 2017. The Zones indicate international Postal Tariff .Zone A – Africa , Zone B – Europe, Zone C – USA and rest of the World.
Zone A – Black Collared Barbet – It is one of the most widely distributed Barbets in Africa. Its habitat is Woodlands .Mostly found in North and North East Namibia. Live in pairs and roost communally with other pairs in nest holes.
Zone B – Crested Barbet – least common of all barbets in Namibia.Widespread in large parts of Southern and eastern Africa. Monogamous found singly or in pairs .Feed on insects ,fruits and Nectar.
Zone C – Acacia Pied Barbet – Most common and widespread throughout Namibia except treeless Namib. Feed on fruits like Figs, Karees & Guarris,insects and nectar.
The Negev Desert is not a wasteland devoid of life but is rich in scenery with high mountain peaks and deep canyons- Hamada plains standing out darkly against white sand dunes ,each landscape with its own distinct biological systems hollowed by springs and waters.
As many as 1200 plant species are found of which 76 are endemic.It has abundance of Wlidlife with 45 reptile species,55 bird species other than migratory , 440 mammal species.
Ein Zin Reserve – Desert oases of the Negev. Ein Zin is one of the series of springs rising in Nahal Zin. it has palm trees,Euphrates poplar trees and lush green river bank vegetation with wild life.
She’zaf Reserve – Located in Northern Arava has a growth of large jujube and acacia trees giving it a effect of African Savannah.
Makhtesh Ramon reserve – Consists on Makhtesh (Crater) and high Negev Mountains is the largest reserve.
Israel issue a set of three stamps on these nature reserves on 27 Jun 1988 with Tabs.

The Voyageurs National Park -Minnesota was established on Jan 8 ,1971 with 218,054 acres area including 84000 acres of Water .It was established to “preserve the outstanding scenery ,geological conditions and waterway system.” The park features undeveloped shoreline,hundreds of Islands and lakes.The rocky shorelines,southern boreal and hardwood forests and open waters creates an ideal home for bald eagles,loons,black bears ,moose and wolves.
