2009 was celebrated as International Year of Astronomy and it coincided with 400th Anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with  a telescope by Galileo Galilei and the publication of Johannes Kepler’s Astronomia nova in the 17th Century.

Australia issued a Pre Stamped Envelope (55c) ON 25 AUG 2009 to mark the International Year of Astronomy .The envelope features the Christmas tree cluster,fox fur nebula and cone nebula.

Mars Orbiter Mission : India’s First Mission to Mars – Special Cover India -2015

The Mars orbiter mission spacecraft was launched by India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C25 on 05 Nov 2013.It was placed in Mars orbit on 24 Sep 2014.

A Special Cover was released on 16 Jan 2015 to mark Vigyaan Diwas during Karnapex 2015. The cover illustrates Mars orbiter in orbit.

2009 was celebrated as International Year of Astronomy and it coincided with 400th Anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with  a telescope by Galileo Galilei and the publication of Johannes Kepler’s Astronomia nova in the 17th Century.

A Special Cover was released on 28 Feb 2009 to mark National Science day. The cancellation is on a telescope  and the cover has an illustration on World famous observatory for astronomical calculations at Jaipur. It aslo marks the International Year of Astronomy.
