Germany has issued a stamp on 100th Birth Anniversary of Astrid Lindgren on 08 Nov 2007. Astrid Lindgren ( 14 Nov 1907 -28 Jan 2002 ) was a Swedish writer of fiction and screenplays. She is best known for her Children’s book series like Pippi Longstocking, Emili i Lonnerberga, SixBullerby Children and for Children’s Fantasy novels like Mio, My Son, Ronia the robber’s daughter etc. She is said to be the world’s 18th most translated author and fourth-most translated children’s writer after Enid Blyton, Hans Andersen and Brothers Grimm. This was a joint issue with Sweden.
Her portrait features on Swedish 20 Kronor Note in 2015 along with the Character Pippi.

Malta issued a set of stamps on 200th Birth Anniversary Hans Christian Andersen on 03 Mar 2005. Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author best known for Fairy tales. This issue was a joint issue with Denmark.
Germany issued a stamp of 45 euro cent denomination on 14 Jun 2007 to mark the 125 Birth Anniversary of Karl Valentin.
Karl Valentin (1882-1948) was a Bavarian comedian, clown, author and film producer. He had a significant influence on German Weimar Culture. Valentin starred in many silent films in the 1920s and was sometimes called “Charlie Chaplin of Germany”.
