A Pair of 1972 running shoes, one of the first pairs made by Nike Inc sold for a record-shattering price of $ 437,000 at a Public auction. The so-called Nike “Moon Shoe” designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman for runners at 1972 Olympic trials were sold at Sotheby’s auction house in New York. It was the first ever auction dedicated to sneakers. The Buyer was a Canadian investor and Car Collector who had earlier bought 99 pairs of sneakers at an auction.
Babe Ruth Jersey fetches a record price at Auction- Jun 2019
A New York Yankees Jersey worn by Baseball legend Babe Ruth was sold at an auction in June 2019for a record-breaking $ 5,640,000 making it the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia ever sold. This jersey dates to 1928-1930 period of Ruth’s career. Jersey was from Ruth’s private family collection was part of a collection of items auctioned at Yankee Stadium. A press release by the auctioneers Hunt Auctions said.
It shattered the previous record for sports memorabilia of $4.4 million also for a Ruth Jersey set in 2012.
George Herman “Babe” Ruth Jr (06 Feb 1895 – 16 Aug 1948) was a Professional Baseball player whose career in Major League Baseball (MLB) lasted 22 seasons (1914-1935). He was nicknamed “Bambino” and “Sultan of Swat” who began his MLB career as a left-handed pitcher for Boston Red Sox but achieved his greatest fame as an outfielder for New York Yankees. He was inducted into Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 and was one of its “first five” inaugural members.

Babe Ruth was awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor in Nov 2018 posthumously. This medal along with Congressional Gold Medal- is the highest civilian award of the United States.
