The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Wisconsin was established on Sep 26 ,1970 with 69,372 acres area.It was established to protect “certain significant islands,shoreline and light stations of the USA and their related geographic, scenic, historic and scientific values. ” The park includes 21 islands in Lake Superior and a 12-mile strip of mainland shoreline. The park features pristine sand beaches,coves,sea caves,forests,diverse population of birds,mammals,amphibians and fish.There are a number of light houses and light house complexes.
