Stamps on Centenary of Australian Open – Australia 2005
One of the World’s biggest sporting events the Australian Open Tennis celebrated its Centenary in 2005. The First Tournament known as Australasian Tennis Championships was played at Warehouseman’s Cricket Ground in Albert Park Melbourne. The Competition became Australian Open in 1969 and moved to Melbourne Park in Jan 1988.
Australia issued a set of two stamps on 11 Jan 2005 to mark the centenary of Australian Open (1905-2005). The stamps feature a Male and a Female player. A gutter Pair of the stamp on a Woman tennis player is listed.
