Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte ( 21 Nov 1898- 15 Aug 1967) was a Belgian surrealist artist.He is well known for often depicting ordinary objects in unusual context. His imagery has influenced Pop,minimalist and conceptual art.
France issued a stamp and a Pre Stamped envelope on 18 April 1998 .The stamp design on envelope shows his painting “Retour” or “The Return” done in 1940. This envelope was issued by La Poste to mark his 100th Birth Anniversary.
