Priority Stamps on Eiffel Tower -France 2017.
To celebrate the Centenary of the French Revolution in 1889 an International Exhibition was planned in Paris. Maurice Koechlin & Emile Nouguier, two senior engineers working for Compagnie des establishments Eiffel made a design of Eiffel Tower in 1884, based on Latting observatory in New York. This design improved by Stephen Sauvestre of Eiffel Company was displayed in an exhibition in 1884. Its patents were bought. The Government signed a contract to built this tower as a centrepiece for the exhibition in 1887. it was constructed from 1887-1889 as an entrance to the 1889 World exhibition, it is wrought-iron lattice tower on Champ de Mars in Paris, France and named after Gustav Eiffel whose company designed and built the tower. It is 324 metres tall. It is the tallest man-made structure in the World & the most visited paid monument in the world.
La Poste issued a set of four Priority Stamps ( Permanent validity, priority letters of 20g to France) on Eiffel Tower in all its splendour on 21 Mar 2017. Each stamp was sold for 0.85 euro and a sheet of four stamps for 5.30 euro.
