Australia Day – Paintings -1985

Australia Day is celebrated every year on 26 Jan. It marks the anniversary of the1788 arrival of The First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales and the raising of Flag of Great Britain at Sydney Cove by Governor.

The Theme for 1985 Australia Day Stamps was Paintings. Two Stamps were issued on 25 Jan 1985. The First one features the Painting Musgrave Ranges by Sir Sidney Nolan,OM,AC. The Second one is a Painting Walls of China by Sir George Russel Drysdale,AC.
