APS Cover Jan 2019 – Platinum Jubilee – No 10 Squadron Indian Air Force
No 9 Squadron of IAF was formed on 20 Feb 1944 at Lahore. The Squadron crest is “Winged Dagger and this squadron is known as “DAGGERS”.It took part in World War II in Burma sector and since then it has taken part in all major conflicts and battles. It has graduated from Vampires and Maruts to MIGs It received Presidents’ Standards in 1985. It was awarded two Vir Chakras in 1971 operations.
Squadron Leader H Moolgavkar was the Commanding Officer of the sqn in 1947-48 operations against Pakistan when he was awarded Maha Vir Chakra. He rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshal H Moolgavkar, PVSM, MVC, LOM and became Chief of Air Staff Indian Air Force from 1976 to 1978
