First Day Cover India 2016 – Induction of C-130
The India Air Force’sC-130J Super Hercules is an advanced Mobility Special Operations Platform with a maximum payload of 20 Tonnes. It was inducted in IAF in Jan 2011.It can operate from Advanced Landing Grounds.
On 20 Aug 2013, it created history and entered Limca Book of Records by Landing at Daulat Beg Oldie at an altitude of16614 ft above mean sea level.
A Commemorative Postage stamp was issued on 06 Oct 2016 on induction of C-130 in IAF and to mark Air Force Day 08 Oct 2016. This stamp was printed in Security Printing Press Hyderabad by wet offset process and had a print run of 401590. A FDC is listed.
