The Brockville Rifles– Commemorative Covers – 2016.
In 1866, a major re-organization of militias in the Brockville area created the 41st Brockville Battalion of Rifles. During the First World War, it won battle honours Amiens and Pursuit to Mons and Major Thain MacDowell, earned the Victoria Cross. It is now the Primary Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Canadian Army.
The Badge of the Regiment which forms part of stamp design and the cover has following features
- Gules a bugle stringed Argent all within an annulus sable and inscribed “THE BROCKVILLE RIFLES”
- Argent surmounting the Maltese Cross.
- Amiens on Top
- Semper Paratus motto meaning Always Prepared.
- Lower Limb inscribed “PURSUIT TO MONS”
- Whole ensigned by Royal Crown.
Canada Post issued a commemorative cover on 02 April 2016 to commemorate 150th Anniversary of The Brockville Rifles.
