Forest Fruits on Stamps – Strawberry and Bilberry -Poland 1977.

Poland issued a set of eight stamps on Forest Fruits on 17 Mar 1977. The FDCs are listed.

1.0 Zl – Wild Strawberry- It is also called Woodland Strawberry, Alpine or European Strawberry. Mainly used in jams sauces, Liqueurs, cosmetics and alternative medicine.

1.50 Zl- Bilberry– Also known as European Blueberries are a Eurasian species. The fruits are eaten fresh or made into jams, juices or pies. In France and Italy used as a base for Liqueurs and are popular flavouring for sorbets and desserts. In Romania used as a base for a liqueur called afinata.In Scandinavia used for Bilberry Pie and blabarssoppa, bilberry soup served hot or cold. Vosges bilberry tart is a dessert.
