Ignacy Lukasiewicz (1822-1882) was a Polish Pharmacist, Engineer and Inventor. He is credited with the invention of an oil lamp.
In 1856 he built World’s first modern oil refinery.

In 1854 he constructed the World’s First modern oil well
He discovered how to distil Kerosene oil from seep oil
Poland issued a set of stamps on 22 Mar 1982 to mark his 100th Birth Anniversary. The stamps featured Oil lamps.
