Veteran and Vintage Cars of Australia on stamps – First Day Cover 1984
A set of Five stamps in a Vertical se-tenant strip of Five was issued by Australia on Veteran and Vintage Cars assembled in Australia. The stamps were issued on 14 Mar 1984. The cars built before Dec 1918 are Veteran Cars and those built between Dec 1918 and Dec 1930 are known as Vintage Cars.
The cars featured are
Thomson 1898- Veteran Car – The steam propelled Thomson buggy was a wholly Australian Car built by Herbert Thomson Engineering Works at Armadale, Victoria
Tarrant 1906- Veteran Car – Australian designed and built, Tarrant runabout was produced by Colonel Harley Tarrant at the Tarrant Motor and Engg Co Melbourne.
Australian Six 1919 – Vintage Car -Originally built by F H Gordon and Co, later produced by Australian Motors Ltd Ashfield, NSW.
Summit 1923 – Vintage Car -The four-cylinder Summit tourer was assembled by Summit motors of Sydney.
Chic 1924 -Vintage Car-Designed for Australian conditions assembled by “Chic” Cars limited of Adelaide.
