The 2008 Summer Olympics or XXIX Olympics were held in Beijing China from 08 to 24 Aug 2008. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 Nations participated in 28 Sports, 41 Disciplines and 302 events. President Hu Jintao of China inaugurated the Games. China topped the medals tally with 48 Gold Medals.
China Post issued a Postcard on 24 Aug 2008 (24/8/8)for the Closing Ceremony of 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. The cancellation states “Commemoration of the Closing Ceremony of the Games of XXIX Olympiad”. Cancellation features Beijing 2008 – London 2012. The stamp design is based on 0.80 Yuan stamp issued on 23Jun 2006.
