The Postal Route Route from Christina to Bergen -Vindhellavegen. this was a very hazardous road with cliffs, sharp turnings and gradients. In 1793 it was upgraded and Kongevegen was the first road between east and west. In 1840s a new road was built on high walls for horse and cart and extra bend added to reduce the gradient.
The Vindhellavegen is one of most beautiful sites and Kongevegen has been named Norway’s most beautiful road and awarded Europe’s highest Cultural Heritage award the EUROPA Nostra
