World Bamboo Organisation was formed initially established as International Bamboo Association in Thailand in 1991. World Bamboo Congress was legallyformed in 2005. Mr Kamesh Salam (India ,Assam ) has served as President of WBO from 2007-2009.

18 September was officially declared as World Bamboo Day in the 8th WBO Congress held in Bangkok in 2009. Today is World Bamboo Day
