UNESCO World Heritage Site – Sigiriya -Sri Lanka 2023.
Sri Lanka issued a Rupees 50/- value Miniature sheet on UNESCO World Heritage Site – Sigiriya on 15th June 2023. It is a rock fortress located in Central Province of Sri Lanka near Dambulla Town of Matale District. King Kashyapa ( 477-495 AD) selected this as his Capital. It is dominated by long columnar granite rock 180 metres high. It is also called Lion Rock.
