Platinum Jubilee No 1 Squadron Indian Air Force
No 1 Squadron raised in 1933 proudly calls itself as the First Fighter Squadron of Indian Air Force. It has been decorated with maximum number of gallantry awards in the IAF, has been Best Fighter Squadron for maximum number of Times, First Squadron to be commanded by an Indian (Sqn Leader Subroto Mukherjee). He later became the Chief of Air Staff.
Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh commanded No. 1 Squadron IAF during World War II, particularly through the Arakan Campaign (Burma) in 1944 when he led the squadron in combat against Japanese forces and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for his leadership and gallantry. He relinquished command in December 1944.
This period marked an early milestone in his distinguished career, which later saw him become Chief of Air Staff (1964‑1969) and eventually the only officer in IAF history to be promoted to Marshal of the Air Force.

The Special cover was released on 01 Apr 2008 to commemorate 75 Glorious Years of No 1 Squadron. The Cover features the aircrafts which were part of the squadron in its journey till now and the cancellation features the Tigers emblem.
