First Postage Stamps of 2026 – Bulgaria

The first postage stamp for 2026 will be dedicated to Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone. This is the most anticipated edition by collectors in Bulgaria and abroad, because the withdrawal of the Lev as the state currency closes an entire collecting cycle with more than 140 years of history and opens a new one. For Bulgaria, this is happening for the second time, after philatelic editions began to be sold in Levs instead of Centimes at the end of the 19th century, following the introduction of the national currency.

In connection with joining the Eurozone, from 1 January 2026, new definitive postage stamps will be put into circulation, which are used for domestic correspondence for the universal postal service. Personalized stamps will also have a new design and price in Euros. These editions will be dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage of Bulgaria.
