Farewell to MiG (Mikoyan Gurevich) 21 -APS Cover 2025.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) officially retired the MiG-21 fighter aircraft on 26 September 2025, bringing down curtains on over 62 Years of service. A ceremonial farewell was held at Chandigarh Air Force Station, a location of great historical significance as it was here that the IAF inducted its first MiG-21 (28 Squadron) on 23 Mar 1963.
APS released a Special Cover on 26 Sep 2025 to bid farewell to MiG 21 aircrafts from its fleet.

No. 28 Squadron, nicknamed The First Supersonics, is a distinguished fighter squadron of the Indian Air Force, formed on 23 March 1963 and the first IAF unit to be equipped with supersonic MiG-21 aircraft.

The Squadron was honoured with the President’s Standard — one of the highest ceremonial honours for military units on 2 April 1991 at Pune. APS had released a Special Cover to commemorate that event.
