Crimson Rosella is a Parrot that are found in coastal regions of eastern and south eastern Australia. The brightly colored plummage of this species varies according to region in which it lives. adult crimson rosellas are usually seen in pairs or small groups but immature birds gather in large flocks. The birds can be quite tame and are often observed at Picnic spots.

Kookaburra is a bird in the Kingfisher Sub family and Kookaburras  live in open forests and woodlands throughout Australia. the famous laugh of the Kookaburra is a means to announce the bird’s territory to intruders . The birds have a close knit family system in which young adults often remain with their parents to assist raising offspring and defending territory.

Pelicans are widely distributed throughout Australia’s lakes ,swamps and beaches . The are often seen swimming together in formation  which is thought to be a device to drive fish into shallow waters. The Pelican is a living pre historic relic since fossil remains have been found  of Pelicans which lived in Australia 30 to 40 million years ago.

The rose robin (Petroica Rosea) is a small bird native to Australia. TheMale has a distinctive pink breast and its upper parts are dark grey with white frons and its tail black with white tips. Theunderparts and shoulder are white. The Female is an undistinguishedgrey brown. The Robin has small black bill and eyes.

Its natural habitats are the gullies and valleys of temperate forests and subtropical moist lowland forests.  It is mainly found in thickly forested areas of south eastern Australia.

The rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas

The rainbow Lorikeet is unmistakable with its bright red beak and colourful plumage. Both sexes look alike, with a blue (mauve) head and belly, green wings, tail and back, and an orange/yellow breast. They are often seen in loud and fast-moving flocks, or in communal roosts at dusk

The Gouldian finch (Erythrura  gouldiae), also known as the Lady Gouldian finch, Gould’s finch or the rainbow finch, is a colourful passerine bird endemic to Australia. There is strong evidence of a continuing decline, even at the best-known site near Katherine in the Northern Territory. Large numbers are bred in captivity.

Irish Post (An Post) issued a set of four 41c se-tenant stamps on 17 sep 2002 honoring Football and  Hurling Stars selected for induction into Hall of fame.

The stamps feature Footballers Peter McDermott and Matt Connor  and hurlers Seanie Duggan and Jimmy Smyth.
