A team of naturalists led by Joseph banks collected hundreds of plants as James Cook navigated the Endeavour along Australia’s eastern coast in 1770. Sydney Parkinson’s botanical sketches were transformed into watercolor  illustrations and engravings after expedition returned to England.

The Correa reflexa specimen was collected at the Botany Bay New South Wales  between 28 April and 5 May 1770.

Correa reflexa is sometimes referred to as Native Fuchsia, a name it shares with Epacris longiflora. Its distribution ranges from southeast South Australia, through Victoria to eastern New South Wales and continues into south-east Queensland; it includes eastern Tasmania and Kangaroo Island off South Australia.

A team of naturalists led by Joseph banks collected hundreds of plants as James Cook navigated the Endeavour along Australia’s eastern coast in 1770. Sydney Parkinson’s botanical sketches were transformed into watercolor  illustrations and engravings after expedition returned to England.

The Dillenia alata specimen was collected at the Endeavour River Queensland between 17 June and 4 august 1770.

Dillenia alata, commonly known as red beech or golden guinea tree, is a rain forest tree found in northern Australia, New Guinea and nearby islands. It is a medium-sized tree with reddish-brown papery bark. The leaves are 11–23 mm long and 6–13 mm wide and connected to the stem by a stem-clasping winged petiole.

A team of naturalists led by Joseph banks collected hundreds of plants as James Cook navigated the Endeavour along Australia’s eastern coast in 1770. Sydney Parkinson’s botanical sketches were transformed into watercolor  illustrations and engravings after expedition returned to England.

The Hibiscus meraukensis specimen was collected at either at Cape Grafton or Palm Island Queensland in early June 1770.

Hibiscus meraukensis grows in tropical areas of Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia, as well as in the islands north of Australia. It is named for the Greek word ‘hibiskos’,

A team of naturalists led by Joseph banks collected hundreds of plants as James Cook navigated the Endeavour along Australia’s eastern coast in 1770. Sydney Parkinson’s botanical sketches were transformed into watercolor  illustrations and engravings after expedition returned to England.

The Banksia specimen was collected at Botany Bay NewSouth Wales  between 28 April and 5 May 1770.

Banksia serrata commonly know as Old Man Banksia is a species of woody shrub widespread  in eastern Australia, extending from southern Queensland along the coast to Wilsons Promontory on Victoria’s south coast. There is also a population across Bass Strait in northern Tasmania.

stamps on Locomotives to mark 120th Anniversary of State Railway Thailand

Stamps on 100th Anniversary of Bangkok Railway Station.

A set of Four Stamps was issued by Thailand on 25 June 2016 to mark the the 100th anniversary of Bangkok Railway station also known as HUA LAMPHONG  or Bangkok Train Station. It is the main terminal to Northern, Eastern ,Northeastern and Southern Thailand. It  also connects with the MRT Underground system. It was opened in 1916 and has a distinct half dome structure. This is featured on the stamps.

Indian Rupee Note Turns 100

The Indian Rupee Note turned Hundred Today.The One Rupee note which was issued as a promissory note  on 30 November 1817 and was printed in England. Since the first issue it has undergone 28 design changes.

This is the only denomination of Paper Currency in India that bears the signatures of  Finance Secretary and not the RBI Governor. The Government had stopped printing this denomination in 1994 but resumed the printing again in 2015.

This little note has been a part of most of the Indian households on various auspicious rituals as a token payment .
