75 Years of Boy Scouts in Bophuthatswana -1982

In 1899 during the Anglo -Boer war Baden Powell was the Commanding officer of British Forces in Mafeking  and the Mafeking Cadet Corps was organised .They were deployed on message carrying duties Рone stamp shows a cadet on Bicycle .  The Boys Scouts became active after the experimental camp at Brownsea Island in 1907.

On 27 Apr 1994 Bophuthatswana was reintegrated with South Africa.

A FDC with four stamps issued on 29 Jan 1982 to mark 75 Years of Boy Scouts in Bophuthatswana.

75 Years of Boys Scouts in South Africa – 1907-1982

Boys Scouts movement started in 1907 after Baden Powell experimental scouting camp in Brownsea Island. Scout troops were active in Cape,Transvaal & Natal. From 1909 t0 1922 scouting in South Africa developed on provincial basis- Four Parallel scout Association were created -For Whites in 1908,Blacks in 1919, Indians 1931 and Coloureds in 1934. In 1977 all four associations combined to form Boy Scouts Of South Africa
