Germany has issued a stamp on Hanse Cities to mark 650th Anniversary of Hanseatic League. This stamp featuring ships was a joint issue with Sweden
The Hanseatic League was a commercial and defensive confederation of merchants and markets in Northwestern and central Europe. It started with few North German towns in the late 1100s, the league came to dominate Baltic maritime trade for three centuries along the coasts of Northern Europe. Cities from Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Estonia, Poland etc formed part of the league which dominated till the 1450s. Some cities are Bremen, Hamburg, Lubeck, Stockholm, Riga, Deventer.
Germany has issued a stamp on Birth Centenary of Gerd Bucerius (1906-1995). He was a German Politician and Journalist. He was founding member of Die Zeit. It is a German National weekly Newspaper published from Hamburg since 1946.
Germany issued a stamp on Stefan Andres on 08 Jun 2006. FDC is listed. Stefan Andres (1906-1970) was a German Novelist who was also nominated for Nobel Prize in Literature. The stamp was issued to mark his Birth Centenary.
