Bangladesh gained Independence in 1971 and Bangladesh Olympic Committee (BOA) was formed in 1979. Bangladesh athletes first took part in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games. Bangladesh has never participated in the Winter Olympics.
Olympic Stamps- Bangladesh has issued 34 stamps on Summer Olympics from 1976 to 2016. Bangladesh Post Office brought out a booklet cum presentation pack containing all stamps it has issued from 1976 to 2008 Summer Olympics.

The 1988 Summer Olympics or XXIV Olympics were held in Seoul South Korea from 17 Sep to 02 Oct 1988. A total of 8,391 athletes fro6 140 Nations participated in 23 Sports, 31 Disciplines and 237 events. President Roh Tae Woo of South Korea inaugurated the Games. The Soviet Union (USSR) topped the medals tally with 55 Gold Medals.

The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games will be held from 24 July to 09 August 2020 in Tokyo
These will be the Games of XXXII Olympiad.
206 nations are expected to take part in 339 events in 33 sports.
Over 11,000 athletes are expected to arrive at. various venues.
National Stadium in Tokyo will host the Opening Ceremony.

The 2016 Summer Olympics also known as Games of XXXI Olympiad were held in Rio De Janeiro from 5 to 21 Aug 2016. A total of 11,238 athletes from 207 nations participated in 306 events in 28 Sports and 41 Disciplines. The United States topped the medals tally with 46 Gold Medals.

Bhutan issued a set of stamps on 1972 Munich Summer Olympics on 06 Jun 1972. A FDC is listed. The Sports featured on stamps are 10 Ch – Handball, 15 Ch- Archery and 20 Ch -Boxing. The Cover design features an Archer. Archery is National Sports of Bhutan.
