Portugal -Vietnam Joint Issue Stamps – 2016 – Art Pottery

Portugal & Vietnam issued a set of Two stamps on 01 Jul 2016 as a Joint celebrating 500 Years of Trade between Portugal and Vietnam . The Stamps designs feature Flags of both the countries, A panorama of  Hoi An City and Lisbon and ceramic artifact of each country.

One of the stamp features Vietnamese Chu Dau Pottery – A white Garlic shaped vase dating back to 1450 AD and having Lotus & Daisy Patterns.This is against the backdrop of blue ocean and panorama of Hoi An  ancient city. The vase is currently on display in Topkapi Museum in Turkey.

The other stamp shows a 16th century Portuguese Ceramic plate set against blue ocean and Panorama of coastal city of ancient Lisbon.

BIMSTEC – Bay Of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral Technical And Economic Cooperation Countries is a Summit of Seven Countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan,India,Myanmar,Nepal,Sri lanka and Thailand. It has its Secretariat at Dhaka Bangladesh.

A Stamp was issued by Bangladesh on BIMSTEC Secretariat on 13 Sep 2014 in which Flags of all member countries including India are featured.
