New Mexico State Flag –  New Mexico adopted state Flag in 1925. The main features of the Flag are

  • The colours on Flag are Red & Yellow of Old Spain.
  • Reflect American Pueblo and Mexico Hispano roots.
  • The Centre design is ancient Zia Symbol. Zia Indians regard sun as sacred.
  • Sun in Centre with four rays pointing in each of four directions.
  • Four is a sacred number for Zia – Four Cardinal directions on a compass, four seasons of the year, four periods of the day , Four seasons of life (Childhood, youth, middle age & old age).
  • Only USA state Flag without Blue or White.

  • A Shield with three Ploughs representing Jersey’s Agricultural tradition.
  • A Forward-facing helmet.
  • A horse’s head as crest of the helmet.
  • The Female Figures Liberty and Ceres represent State motto “Liberty & Prosperity”.
  • Liberty holds a staff supporting a “Liberty Cap”, Ceres – Goddess of Grain is holding an overflowing cornucopia.
  • The streamer at the Foot contains State Motto.

The First Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924 in which 16 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 9 Disciplines and 16 events in Men’s and Women’s Category.

The 1994 Winter Olympics or XVII Winter Olympics were held in LILLEHAMMER  Norway from 12- 27 Feb 1994. The then King of Norway King Harald V inaugurated the Games. A total of 1737 athletes from 67 Nations participated in 6 Sports, 12 Disciplines and 61 events. Russia topped the medals tally with 11 Gold Medals Norway bagged the most medals overall -26 ( 10 Gold,11 Silver, 5 Bronze)

Norway issued a pair of Se-tenant 3.50 Kr stamps on 27 Nov 1993 to commemorate the 1994  Lillehammer Winter Olympics.
