Empress of Austria & Queen of Hungary – Stamps of Hungary & Austria on Elisabeth
She was born in Bavaria on 24 Dec 1837 . Her mother was half sister of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. She was a Duchess of Bavaria and married Emperor Franz Joseph I . Thus by her marriage to Franz Joseph she became Empress of Austria ,Queen of Hungary , Bohemia ,Dalmatia and Croatia. She had traveled widely in her Kingdom and was a true European Citizen of her times. When she died in 1898 in Geneva she was the longest serving Empress of Austria at 44 years.
Austria issued a stamp on 100th Death Anniversary of Empress Elisabeth on 10 Sep 1998 and Hungary issued a stamp on Queen Elisabeth in the EUROPA series under famous people category on 02 May 1996.

Solheim Cup is a Biennial Women’s Golf Competition between teams from Europe and USA. The competition is held every two years with venues alternating between courses in USA and Europe.It is named after Norwegian- American Golf club manufacturer Karsten Solheim.
The inaugural cup was held in 1990 and the event was held in even years till 2002 alternating years with Ryder Cup. Due to postponement of Ryder Cup in 2001 post Sep 11 attacks Solheim cup switched to odd years beginning 2003.
The 2011 edition was played in Ireland at Killeen Castle ,County Meath North West of Dublin. This was the first hosting of Cup by Ireland. The 12th Solheim Cup (2011) was played from 23-25 Sep 2011. Europe won the event 15-13.
The Dunsany Championship Golf Course designed by Jack Nicklaus hosted the 2011 edition in Ireland.
Ireland issued a beautiful stamp on 15 Sep 2011 to commemorate 2011 edition of Solheim Cup. Top International Women Golfers Suzann Pettersen (Europe) & Michelle Wie (USA) unveiled the stamp and feature on it.
