A Commemorative stamp was issued by India Post on 07 Nov 2001 on Cancer Awareness Day. The stamp shows a Women carrying out “Breast Self Examination” for early detection of Breast cancer. The Cover features Madam Curie (1867-1934) who discovered Radium and Radioactivity. Radium was used  for treatment of Cancer.

1.30 Shekel -Rivka Guber (1902-1981)-Israeli Social worker and Pioneer and recipient of Israel Prize.

Spain issued a stamp on a very relevant Social and Civic sense theme. It was on Day of equal pay . The stamp features a Man and Woman ,an apple and half apple which are symbolic of equal pay today. An extremely thought provoking stamp.

Empress of Austria & Queen of Hungary – Stamps of Hungary & Austria on Elisabeth

She was born in Bavaria on 24 Dec 1837 . Her mother was half sister of  King Ludwig I of Bavaria. She was a Duchess of Bavaria and married Emperor Franz Joseph I . Thus by her marriage to Franz Joseph she became Empress of Austria ,Queen of Hungary , Bohemia ,Dalmatia and Croatia. She had traveled widely in her Kingdom and was a true European Citizen of her times. When she died in 1898 in Geneva she was the longest serving Empress of Austria at 44 years.

Austria issued a stamp on 100th Death Anniversary of Empress Elisabeth on 10 Sep 1998 and Hungary issued a stamp on Queen Elisabeth in the EUROPA series under famous people category on 02 May 1996.

UAE issued a set of Six stamps on Women’s Traditional Jewellery in the UAE on 31 Dec 2006.

The stamps were issued in six denominations (Dh1, Dh1.50, Dh2, Dh3, Dh3.50 and Dh4), along with limited First Day Covers (Dh16) and a stamp booklet (Dh15).

The jewellery depicted include

Mariya Um Al Nairat (Dh 1)  – A  gold necklace worn by women,

Mortasha (Dh 1.50) – A thick gold necklace with round gold discs hanging from it,

Shaghab Bu Shouk (Dh 2) -Gold earrings characterized by magnificent embellishments

Shahid Ring (Dh3.0) – Ring

Bushuq (Dh 3.50) – A gold bracelet characterised by conical designs and projections,

Tassah(Dh 4 ) – Jewellery worn on the forehead.
