Species of Blue Poppy – Stamps of Bhutan 2017.
A Miniature sheet on Species of Blue Poppy was issued by Bhutan on 09 Oct 2017. Meconopsis gakyidiana is the National Flower of Bhutan . Two other species were also discovered in Bhutan and named Meconopsis merakensis & Meconopsis elongata.They can be found in Merak, Sagteng and Haa regions of Bhutan. A total of 15 species of Meconopsis are now found in Bhutan.

Meconopsis bella -Pretty Blue Poppy found in Central Nepal and Southeastern Tibet.

Meconopsis merakensis – Found in Bhutan
Meconopsis elongata – Found in Bhutan
Meconopsis horridula -prickly blue poppy found in Western Nepal, Western China and High altitudes of Himalayas.
Meconopsis simplicifolia– perennial in Poppy family found in Central Nepal and Southeastern Tibet.
