Australia State Floral Emblems and Philately – Queensland– Pre Stamped Envelopes Australia 1982
Australia Post issued a set of seven Pre stamped envelopes on the Australian States’ floral emblems on 19 May 1982.
Cooktown Orchid – It was proclaimed as state floral emblem of Queensland State on 19 Nov 1959. Its natural habitat is Cooktown and the north eastern areas of the state but it can be grown outdoors in other sub-tropical regions.
The orchid is an epiphyte (not a parasite) and grows on a variety of trees . Its purple flowers which grow in clusters bloom between Feb & July.
