Australia State Floral Emblems and Philately – Tasmania – Pre Stamped Envelopes Australia 1982

Australia Post issued a set of seven Pre stamped envelopes on the Australian States’ floral emblems on 19 May 1982.

The Tasmanian Blue Gum (Eucalyptus globulus) – It was proclaimed as state floral emblem of Tasmania on  05 Dec 1962 .It is also known as Southern Blue Gum.

This tree is known for its rapid growth and its seasoned timber is valuable in heavy construction work.Its habitat is the southern and eastern parts of Tasmania and also grows in Victoria. The large cream flowers bloom between June & November and yield a characteristic amber colored honey.The name “Blue Gum” is derived from bluish grey color of its young leaves.
